I grew up knowing her as the darker counterpart to [[Tymora]]. I know her considerably better now than I ever wanted to. - Whatever exists between us began at the [[Cathedral of Lathander]] in [[Eveningstar]] in 1486... Beshaba possessed [[Olivia Halcrest]] and turned her against me. By the time Olivia regained control of herself, I had already mortally wounded her. - Since then, death has stopped working properly... When I die, I eventually wake again at the Cathedral, returned to youth while carrying memories of a life nobody else lived. Even surviving long enough to approach thirty has never allowed me to escape it. - I have spent more than a century of life across those cycles being killed by blades, poison, beasts, cold, drowning, collapsing stone, exhaustion, and occasionally choices that seemed better at the time. Every road eventually returns me to the same beginning. - For most of that time, I didn't know why. I knew Beshaba was responsible. I knew her followers kept finding their way into my lives. I knew she was watching. I did not know what she was preparing me for. - I finally learned during the life that ended at the [[Hollow Cloister]]. Outside [[Marsember]], a [[Doommaster]] approached me carrying a letter from [[Kaelen Droswynn]] and addressed me as "her chosen." - Kaelen's letter explained the rest. Beshaba wanted me to surrender willingly and become her "Chosen", describing me as a vessel shaped through a century of repeated death. If I refused, she intended to keep dragging me through the cycle until I eventually broke. - It was at that point I felt she decided subtlety had become unnecessary. On the other side of the letter were the words: *"You belong to me. One way or another."* The Doommaster then changed before my eyes until Beshaba herself was staring back at me before vanishing entirely. - When I reached Kaelen at the cloister, he confirmed what the letter had already told me. Beshaba had chosen him too, but only as something to use against me. In his own words, he was the blade she sharpened. I was the one she wanted. - That life ended with Kaelen and I fighting beneath the open sky while the [[Order of the Lucky Blades]] stormed the Cloister. I killed him, collapsed shortly afterward, and once again opened my eyes on the floor of the Cathedral of Lathander. - So... there is no mystery anymore about what Beshaba wants. She wants me as her Chosen. - What I still do not know is the "why". I do not know what she expects me to become, why she decided repeated death was necessary to create it, or what exactly happens if she ever succeeds. - Her followers have crossed my path enough times that I stopped believing in coincidence long ago. Doommasters, Wormlucks, shrines, and the [[Church of Beshaba]] have appeared throughout my lives, sometimes hunting me and sometimes seemingly... waiting for me. - [[Kaelen Droswynn]] was not the only person she touched. What happened to [[Radecere Perethun]] was another reminder that Beshaba is perfectly willing to reach through anyone connected to my past if it causes enough pain. - I have spent years searching for a way out of this curse. Priests, gods, magic, death itself. Nothing has ended it yet.
