She came from [[House Valebright]] and was raised to protect [[Anya Valebright]], which seems to have shaped most of the person she became. - Marcel will insist that her feelings toward Anya are entirely professional. The rest of us have heard this argument several times and our opinions remain unchanged. - Whatever happened between Marcel and Anya before we met is still mostly hers to tell. She believes Anya may have been captured by the [[Cult of the Dragon]], but we have never managed to confirm it, even after trying to reach her through magic. - Magic aside, Marcel can hit incredibly hard, absorb an unreasonable amount of punishment, and keep moving long after I would expect most people to stay down. She knocked [[Constantine]] unconscious when he decided challenging a trained royal guard was the best way to test himself back in [[Greenest]]. - We have fought beside each other long enough that I trust her almost without thinking about it. I have pulled her back from the edge with what healing I have, she has done the same for me, and of everyone currently traveling with us she is probably the person I trust most when something goes wrong. - She is kinder than she sometimes seems to realize. She helped [[Kalis Mikhailson]] repair the temple of [[Chauntea]] in [[Greenest]], bought [[Drougma Tarak]] a component bag when he could not afford one, and has a noticeable weakness for children. One tiefling girl in Greenest practically attached herself to Marcel and Marcel never really seemed to mind. - Marcel is humble, too, and has never seemed particularly interested in appearing wealthy or important. In [[Elturel]], when she could not afford a Sunstone Ring she wanted, I gave her a small porcelain statue I had been given so she could trade it to the jeweler for the ring. She accepted the help with genuine appreciation and left it at that. - She also carries a small bottle of sand from her old training grounds. I still have no idea why. She has kept it long enough that I assume it means something important to her, and I have enough strange sentimental objects of my own that questioning hers would be hypocritical. - There are also moments when something unfamiliar surfaces in Marcel's power. I have noticed it more than once, but she has never properly explained it. Considering the assortment of divine curses, shadow people, missing princesses, and other nonsense already traveling with us, I am willing to let her explain that one when she is ready. - I don't think I've ever had a fight or argument with Marcel, definitely not physical at the very least. If i were to regard her as an adversary- I do not see Marcel as a threat to me or to escaping [[Beshaba]]'s curse. Quite the opposite. If I needed someone in this group to know the whole truth and still help me find a way out, Marcel would probably be the first person I trusted with it. - That does not mean I underestimate her. If we ever genuinely fought, Marcel could hurt me badly. I just have very little reason to imagine us reaching that point. I would much rather have her beside me, where she usually is. - Marcel is stubborn, occasionally ridiculous, capable of doing frightening amounts of damage, and sometimes follows an idea farther than good judgment probably recommends. She is also loyal, dependable when it actually matters, and one of the few people out here I consider a real friend.
