He respected what they did, but he never treated joining the Order as something his sons were required to do simply because they grew up around it. - My grandfather believed much more strongly in ordinary work than grand accomplishments. If something needed doing, he did it properly, and he never seemed particularly concerned with whether anyone noticed afterward. - Looking at my dad, it is fairly easy to see where some of that came from. Rowan became a paladin, and eventually the owner of [[The Silver Flagon]], but underneath all of that he inherited a great deal of his father's steadiness. - Alphonse followed [[Tymora]], though his faith was never as wrapped up in the Order as most of the Tymoran worship I grew up around. With him it always seemed simpler. - He and my grandmother, [[Henrietta Eldwynair]], built the sort of life that never needed much explaining. They raised my father and [[Mordecai Eldwynair]], stayed close to Silvercross, and were simply part of the family for as long as I can remember. - My grandfather died in 1488 at eighty years old. After everything I have seen since, there is something almost strange about being able to say that plainly: he grew old, lived his life, and then it ended.
