Having a dependable local source made expansion and repairs considerably easier. - [[Varka Stonefell]] oversees the quarry and has done so for as long as I can remember. She runs it with very little patience for careless work or anyone treating heavy stone as though it is forgiving. - Most of what comes out of the quarry is sent to [[Granitejaw Masonry]] to be shaped and prepared for construction. The two places have always seemed less like separate businesses and more like two halves of the same process. - The quarry is loud, dusty, and rarely still. Cutting, hauling, splitting, and loading stone continues through most of the working day, which makes standing nearby for any length of time a fairly horrible experience on your ears. - I never thought much about where the town's stone came from. After enough years away, it is harder not to notice how much of the place exists because people like Varka kept pulling pieces of the surrounding hills out of the ground and turning them into something permanent.
