<div class="dioctionary-ribbon">A Brief History</div>
- [[Therona Eldwynair]] is my mother and the Captain of the Luckwardens within the [[Order of the Lucky Blades]]. She was born Therona Blackfen and comes from [[House Blackfen]], though Eldwynair has been her name for as long as I have known her.
- My mother has always been one of the most disciplined people in my life.
- Before I was born, she fought alongside [[Rowan Eldwynair]] and [[Olivia Halcrest]], and the three of them spent years serving together throughout [[Cormyr]] and beyond. Even growing up, Olivia never felt separate from my parents' history; she had been part of it long before she became part of mine.
- When my father eventually stepped away from active service, my mother continued forward through the Order until she became Captain of the Luckwardens. I cannot remember a version of her that was not training, commanding, preparing, or expecting everyone around her to do the same.
- She carries [[The Mithral Sun]], the ancestral greatsword of House Blackfen. I grew up knowing exactly what that weapon represented and, for a long time, with the expectation that I would eventually become another link in the same chain.
- My relationship with her became considerably harder after Olivia died... My mother understood grief, but understanding why I broke did not mean accepting what I became afterward.
- I have never doubted that she loves me... With my mother, love has simply never been particularly gentle. It tends to arrive as expectations, criticism, preparation, and the absolute certainty that she believes I should be capable of standing back up no matter what put me on the ground.
- There are times when I think dad looks at me and sees his son first, while my mother sees both her son and everything she once expected him to become. I am not sure which is easier to live with.
