His folded wings make him difficult to ignore, even when he tries to keep the dramatic parts of himself tucked away. Lucan rarely uses his wings unless he has to, preferring to keep them folded behind him like an inconvenience with feathers and spite. On hot days, he is more likely to use them for shade than flight. His parents wanted him in banking or finance, something stable enough to earn real coin and polished enough to move him into higher society. Lucan chose music, blade work, and tattooing instead, building a life that was his own before [[Corinne Virell]] and her family were taken by [[Skullport]] slavers. <div class="dioctionary-ribbon">HIS PAST</div> - Lucan was born in 1464 DR to Tomas and Maris Cinderwake, a well-off Waterdhavian couple whose infernal features made them memorable even in rooms full of bankers, brokers, and ambitious social climbers. Both had wings, horns, and the kind of fiendish silhouette that made strangers expect danger before receiving polite advice about interest rates. They were not cruel people, but they believed stability could protect Lucan better than art ever would. Tomas worked around counting houses and private investments, while Maris understood how respectability could soften prejudice when charm alone failed. They pushed Lucan toward ledgers, contracts, and wealthy clients, hoping he would become a man nobles trusted with money. Lucan hated the thought of being praised for a future arranged before he had chosen anything, so he left their circle and built his own name in taverns, back rooms, tattoo parlors, and small stages. He learned swordplay as performance first, then as survival after the wrong people started noticing his talent. In the Dock Ward, he met [[Corinne Virell]], a human singer and seamstress who lived with her father, [[Dalan Virell]], her mother, [[Emmeline Virell]], and her younger brother, [[Jovan Virell]].
