He maintained the tribe’s nomadic traditions while keeping a careful peace with the nearby [[Ten-Towns]], understanding that pride alone would not feed children through winter. His son, Jarund Twice-Born, was expected to carry the bloodline and the burden of leadership after him. In 1482 DR, Jarund Twice-Born was slain by a bear, leaving the elder Jarund wounded by grief and trapped in the ugly politics of succession. After that loss, Jarund struggled to name an heir. His later years are marked by the question of what becomes of a people when their leader remains standing but his line has been broken.
