Torren does not speak much in crowds, partly because he dislikes wasted words and partly because silence has become easier than explaining what he left behind. As a berserker, he fights with brutal force, but his rage is not simple anger; it is grief with nowhere clean to go, which is how men become problems with boots. He now wanders alone through both civilization and wilderness, following rumors of a white elk. <div class="dioctionary-ribbon">HIS PAST</div> - Torren was born in 1462 DR near [[Flint Rock]], among the Elk Tribe of the [[Uthgardt]]. His youth was shaped by hunting trails, clan law, ancestor rites, and the constant demand to become useful before he was old enough to understand what usefulness cost. One cold winter night, raiders attacked the settlement the [[Tribe of the Elk]] inhabited. The battle lasted long into the morning, where Torren’s rage broke loose after finding out that children belonging to the tribe were taken by raiders wearing antler charms twisted with black iron. Torren killed one of the attackers after the man had yielded, but the survivor’s last words claimed the children had not been killed, only “given to the white elk beneath the stones.” The tribe judged Torren’s act as shameful and dangerous, though not enough to cast him out. Torren left before they could decide what to do with him, carrying guilt, a broken antler charm, and the impossible hope that the lost children belonging to the tribe may still be alive somewhere...
