He was small compared to most warriors Vezryn had known, with weathered skin, dark eyes, and white hair tied back with plain cord. Masaru taught that a sword "*was not anger given shape, but a decision that had to be made cleanly or not at all*". He had no patience for cruelty disguised as discipline, which made him alien by Underdark standards. Masaru found Vezryn after his escape from [[Menzoberranzan]] and trained him in restraint, timing, and the cost of killing. <div class="dioctionary-ribbon">HIS PAST</div> - Masaru was born in 1311 DR in [[Kara-Tur]], where he trained with the blade from childhood and spent much of his life wandering between battlefields. He eventually left his homeland, carrying little more than his sword, his name, and the habits of a man who had survived too many wars to romanticize them. On the western surface, he found [[Vezryn Keth]] half-starved and wounded after the fall of [[House Vhaelorin]]. Masaru recognized hatred in him immediately. He trained Vezryn not to forget his dead, but to stop letting the dead choose every strike. When Masaru died in 1452 DR, Vezryn took the name Keth in his honor, carrying it as proof that he had been more than the last son of a ruined drow house.
