Ryldan valued discipline over cruelty, though he was still a noble of [[Menzoberranzan]] and not some glowing surface saint invented by people with hope poisoning. He trained Vezryn in the first forms of swordplay and taught him that a noble who could not defend his house was only decoration with a title. His loyalty to [[Talyra Vhaelorin]] and the house was practical, severe, and absolute. <div class="dioctionary-ribbon">HIS PAST</div> - Ryldan was born in 1289 DR into [[House Vhaelorin]]. He rose as a fighter and tactician, eventually becoming blade-lord under [[Talyra Vhaelorin]]’s rule. He distrusted [[House Hunzrin]], but not quickly enough to stop their final betrayal. During the assault on Vhaelorin holdings, Ryldan held the inner passage long enough for Vezryn to escape. He died knowing his son had survived.
