<div class="dioctionary-ribbon">A Brief History</div>
- Olivia Halcrest was a High Elf Sorcerer-Paladin and once held the role of _Captain of Training & Discipline_ within the [[Order of the Lucky Blades]] in [[Silvercross]]. She was born in 1413 DR in the fortress library of [[Candlekeep]] to the scholars Eryndor and Sylvariel Halcrest, and much of her early life was shaped by quiet study, structure, and an ever-present respect for knowledge. In her late twenties, she left that life behind and traveled east across the [[Western Heartlands]], eventually arriving in [[Silvercross]] in 1441 DR. It was there she swore her Oath of Devotion to [[Tymora]], and over the decades that followed, she became one of the order’s most capable and trusted paladins. She formed strong bonds within the order, none more lasting than with [[Rowan Eldwynair]] and [[Therona Eldwynair]], and in time, with their son as well. That bond, like so many things tied to her, ended in tragedy. In 1486 DR, during the battle at the [[Cathedral of Lathander]], Olivia, while possessed by [[Beshaba]], was struck down by his hand.
- She carried a balance that was hard to name but easy to feel. There was patience in her, the kind that came from years of study, but it never slowed her when action was needed. Candlekeep had given her discipline and curiosity, but it was [[Tymora]] who taught her when to trust instinct, when to step forward even when certainty failed. She never rushed, but she never hesitated either. Everything she did felt deliberate. Olivia was not loud, nor did she need to be. She had a way of holding a room with little more than a look or a quiet word, often easing tension with a dry remark or a raised brow. When she laughed, it was warm and genuine, though it did not come often. She believed luck was not chaos, but something closer to a conversation, shaped by courage, choice, and consequence. It was something to be engaged with, not feared. Though her devotion belonged to [[Tymora]], she never dismissed [[Mystra]]. To her, magic and faith were not in opposition. They were simply two ways of understanding the same truth. Study and prayer, spell and oath, all of it mattered. When she taught, she did not speak in grand speeches. She kept it simple, the kind of lesson that stayed with you whether you wanted it to or not. “**Boldness without wisdom is vanity, but fear disguised as faith is worse**.”

- [[Dio Eldwynair]] - Olivia saw it in him before anyone else did. Not just talent, but something sharper, something dangerous. In Dio, she recognized the rare convergence of Tymora’s blessing and Beshaba’s temptation, a kind of reckless courage guided by instinct and heart, but always one step from falling too far. What began as mentorship did not stay that way for long. Somewhere between long nights after drills, quiet conversations in empty halls, and shared laughter that carried longer than it should have, something deeper took hold. It was never spoken aloud. It did not need to be. Affection settled into trust, into guidance, into restraint. They loved one another, but neither of them ever gave it a name. At the [[Cathedral of Lathander]], that bond was broken in the worst way it could be. Olivia was taken by [[Beshaba]] and turned against him, her will twisted into something unrecognizable. When the possession finally broke, it was already too late. She lay dying beside him, her eyes clearing just enough to find his again. Her lips moved, trying to form words he could not fully hear, or perhaps could not bear to understand. Her death did not break his oath because a god judged him unworthy. It broke because something inside him gave out. When Dio turned away from [[Tymora]] in the aftermath, not in anger but in silence, in grief, in absence, the faith that had once anchored him simply fell away. And in that space, something else answered. [[Beshaba]] did not curse him in that moment. She did not need to. She only took hold of what had been left unguarded...
- [[Therona Eldwynair]]: Once Olivia’s student, later her equal in command. Therona respected Olivia deeply, though she envied, and never fully understood her effortless warmth and charisma. Olivia, in turn, admired Therona’s discipline and resolve. Where Therona was steel, Olivia was flame; together they embodied the Order’s ideal balance.
- [[Rowan Eldwynair]]: A trusted comrade from early campaigns. They shared victories, laughter, and faith in Tymora’s trials. Rowan’s warmth and humor complemented Olivia’s composed nature, and she often sought his company after difficult missions.
- [[Lira Morningvale]]: Her apprentice, her shadow, and her joy. Olivia’s laughter rang loudest when Lira was near. She saw in the half-elf the same spark that once burned in herself; reckless, faithful, and unafraid to hope. Olivia trained her not just to fight, but to believe without naivety.
