It is not magic itself, but the medium by which magic is accessed, shaped, and understood, allowing spellcasters to draw upon raw arcane energy and give it form. To those who study it, the Weave is often described as a fabric, one that can be manipulated, strained, or even torn under sufficient force. Bound intrinsically to [[Mystra]], the goddess of magic, the Weave reflects both her presence and her absence. When she exists, the Weave flows with stability and purpose. When she falls, it fractures. The most catastrophic example of this came with [[The Spellplague]], when the Weave collapsed entirely, unleashing uncontrolled magic across the world and reshaping reality itself. Though restored in the years following [[The Second Sundering]], the Weave is not immutable. It can falter in certain regions, giving rise to dead-magic zones where spells fail entirely, or wild-magic zones where magic behaves unpredictably. To most, it remains unseen and unquestioned. To those who rely upon it, it is both a foundation and a risk; a force that makes power possible, and a reminder that even the laws of reality are not beyond breaking.
