When he entered the [[Order of the Lucky Blades]], he did not adopt their philosophy of fortune lightly; he redefined it. To Kaelen, luck was not a gift, but the natural result of preparation meeting trial. His rise through the Order was swift and absolute, his precision earning respect, his severity earning fear, and his presence marking him as one of the most disciplined warriors of his generation. Alongside [[Dio Eldwynair]] and [[Lira Morningvale]], he trained relentlessly, their dynamic defined by contrast; instinct against structure, daring against certainty. Together they sharpened one another, though Kaelen never believed Dio’s reliance on instinct would lead anywhere but failure. Everything changed in 1486 DR. When [[Olivia Halcrest]] fell, Kaelen was lost the aftermath and the truth that followed. Dio had struck the killing blow. Olivia’s death, Kaelen could accept. Dio’s survival, he could not. To Kaelen, the world had broken in that moment, its balance undone. Mercy had intervened where judgment should have stood, and that fracture never healed. Over time, that wound deepened into something colder, sharper, and far more dangerous. When faith in [[Tymora]] failed to provide meaning, Kaelen sought it elsewhere, eventually finding purpose in the cruel certainty offered by [[Beshaba]]’s followers. In another life, revealed only once, he learned the truth of Dio’s curse, and it did not free him, it damned him further. If Dio could not die as he should, then the world itself had become a contradiction that demanded correction. Kaelen did not hunt Dio out of hatred.
