Cassian took the rules, expectations, and reputation of [[House Blackfen]] very seriously, while I had very little interest in competing with him over who could make the family proudest. Unfortunately, that never stopped him from treating it like a competition. - He was disciplined, precise, and irritatingly good at nearly everything the [[Order of the Lucky Blades]] expected from him. I tended to rely more on instinct, which gave him no shortage of reasons to tell me I was doing things incorrectly even when they worked. - After [[Eveningstar]], Cassian was not exactly among the people lining up to welcome me home. If anything, what happened to [[Olivia Halcrest]] seemed to confirm everything he had always believed about me. - I have never cared much about earning Cassian's approval, and I doubt he has ever particularly cared for mine. We are family because our parents made that decision for us. Beyond that, I am perfectly comfortable keeping some distance.
