I grew up surrounded by the name whether I wanted to be or not, so most of what others might call family history was simply family to me. - The Blackfens have spent generations serving [[Tymora]] and the Order, particularly through the Luckwardens. The position of Captain has remained tied to the family for generations, eventually passing from my grandfather, [[Quincy Blackfen II]], to my mother, [[Therona Eldwynair]]. If there is one thing the Blackfens admire, it is someone who can be relied upon not to fail. - [[The Mithral Sun]] is probably the clearest symbol of that history. Each bearer is recorded along its blade, including my mother. Growing up, I heard plenty about what that sword represented. Mostly duty, continuity, and the cheerful reminder that several generations of dead relatives were available for comparison at any moment. - I never cared about the Blackfen legacy as much as some of them wanted me to. After [[Eveningstar]], that feeling became mutual. Once Olivia was dead and everyone knew I had been the one holding the sword, much of the family began treating me less like Therona's son and more like something embarrassing attached to the name. - Not everyone turned away. [[Artesia Blackfen|My Grandmother]] still acknowledged me when others would not. [[Geredine Blackfen]] remained kind, [[Elowen Blackfen]] showed more sympathy than most, and [[Atomosk Blackfen]] at least never joined in, even if he never defended me either. By that point, being left alone felt almost generous. - I eventually stopped caring whether House Blackfen thought I belonged to it. When I left Silvercross, I left the family name behind with almost everything else. Somehow I still ended up using **Ronan Blackfen** as an alias years later.
