<div class="dioctionary-ribbon">A Brief History</div>
- [[Olivia's Hat]] was commissioned by [[Olivia Halcrest|Olivia]] in 1430 DR, sometime after [[Elminster Aumar]] visited [[Candlekeep]] during her childhood. While he was there, Olivia was assigned to assist him in cataloging portions of his writings and travel notes. For whatever reason, that meeting stayed with her. She admired Elminster’s presence, his eccentricity, and especially the absurdly recognizable shape of his own hat.
- Not long after, she had one made in her own style; a wide, pointed crimson hat woven from spidersilk and dyed a vivid alchemical red. It was never a copy so much as a reflection, taking the outline that had impressed her and turning it into something distinctly her own. Over time it became inseparable from how people remembered her. By the time I knew her, the hat was not just part of her wardrobe. It was part of her.
- I still have it now. More than almost anything else she left behind, the hat feels like Olivia in a way that's hard to explain. It carries her boldness, her sense of self, and the strange balance she always held between elegance and mischief. On Stormwreck Isle, [[Laylee]] of the Dragon’s Rest Kobolds once described it very simply as “VERY LARGE, VERY COOL,” which, honestly, is still one of the better assessments it has ever received.
