They serve as archivists, researchers, caretakers, and guardians of material gathered from across the Realms. - Much of the Order's work centers on preserving texts, cataloging new material, repairing damaged works, and ensuring that information which reaches Candlekeep survives long after its original authors are gone. - They maintain their own hierarchy beneath the Keeper of the Tomes, with knowledge and responsibility passed through years of study, service, and mentorship. Members such as [[Dorian Whitlock]] represent those shaped directly by that culture. - [[Olivia Halcrest]] was also raised within Candlekeep and spent part of her life among the Avowed before eventually leaving for a very different path. That connection later made the Order and Candlekeep personally significant to [[Dio Eldwynair]], even if he was never one of the Avowed himself.
